Sovereign King Preview for 082910

The book of Samuel leads the reader through some pretty dark times.  There is corruption at the most influential levels, and the people suffer from poor leadership and neglect.  It sounds pretty familiar, huh?  Fortunately, a reformation was coming and a new leader would rise.  First, however, the old regime had got to go.

This week, in our “Transition” series, we are going to see God repair and restore that which is broken:  relationships, worship, His people.  It is a hopeful passage but us also one steeped in justice.

Just how in the world does God bring about this change?  I  mean, if two people are in an argument, they can sit down and talk things out, but if a person sins against God, who will help?  That’s precisely the question we want to answer this week at SK.

  2. As one who loves justice (or expecting it of/in others, anyway), I am loving 1 Sam. Has been quite a challenge for me to face the justice I deserve, and a renewing joy to be reminded of the grace I have instead received. Thanks for the fearless preaching of justice and truth — has been good for this little heart.

    • Thanks, Vinny. There are days when I wonder if the words I’m saying have any effect. You encourage me.
