Changing the Community by Serving the Community
Sovereign King Church Launches New Community CE Groups
Sovereign King Church is excited to announce its fall CE Groups and is inviting the community to join them.
Garner, NC (PRWEB) September 4, 2009 – Sovereign King Church launches their community oriented CE Groups for the fall and is inviting the citizens of Garner & the surrounding areas to join them. Designed to create community while engaging community, CE Groups have proven to be effective in making a difference.
The CE Groups partner with local organizations to network and serve often overlooked populations. Sovereign King Church’s pastor, Gordon Duncan, is the chaplain for both the Garner Police and the EMS and through these partnerships, Sovereign King finds great avenues for service.
According to Duncan, “Working with the Police and EMS has given our CE Groups a window into our community that we never knew existed. Loving and serving that community has made the CE Groups incredibly enjoyable.”
One group helped a homeless student graduate high school while another provided the food for the quarterly EMS meetings. A local women’s shelter has been adopted, and last year, the Police who worked the Thanksgiving holiday received baskets of food.
Duncan adds, “Each group meets twice a month, typically over dinner, and talks through what they are passionate about. Once they decide on their strategy, they make their plans and get to work.”
Launching in mid-September, Sovereign King’s CE Groups will meet until Christmas and then go on hiatus until January. For additional information about Sovereign King Church or their CE Groups, contact Gordon Duncan or visit www.skchurch.com.
